Every way to begin is a painting. Pick one, and write.

Your writing is kept in seasons, not dates.

Run it yourself

Free. The code is public.

  • Set up a database with the vector and search add-ons Ink needs
  • Run the sign-in, the app’s server and the model server (the model alone needs about 2 GB of memory)
  • Keep it updated and online, and pay for the machine

Let Ink run it

The same code, already running.

  • Open it and write. Nothing to set up
  • The model that reads your writing runs for you
  • Updates and fixes arrive on their own
  • Works on your phone and your desktop
  • Supports Naveen, who builds Ink

The software is the same either way. You are paying for the work of keeping it running.

Hosted plans. Coming soon.

Ink is free to run yourself. Prices for the hosted app will be shown here once they are decided.

Questions

What is Ink?

Ink is a private place to write poems and stories. It keeps everything you write, and when you write something new it quietly shows your other pieces that are close to it.

Is Ink open source?

Yes. Ink’s code is public under the MIT licence, so you can read exactly what happens to your writing.

Can I run Ink myself?

Yes. The code is public under the MIT licence, with steps on GitHub. The hosted app means there is nothing to set up, update or keep running.

Who can read what I write?

Only you. Nothing you write is shown to anyone else. Ink has no ads and no tracking, never sells or shares your data, and never uses your writing to train anyone’s models.

Do I need to choose a language?

No. Write in any language, and Ink handles the rest. Your words stay exactly as you wrote them.

Will Ink write or correct my writing?

No. Ink never writes, rewrites, scores or judges anything, and there are no streaks to keep. It only helps you find what you have already written.

How does Ink find something I forgot?

Search by what a piece was about, and Ink finds it even when you have forgotten the words. Beside each piece it also shows your other writing that is close to it, even in another language. This runs on a computer Ink runs itself; your writing is never sent to an outside company.

Is there a phone app?

Ink works in the browser on your phone or computer today. A phone app for iPhone and Android is coming soon.

Write today. Meet yourself later.

Every line you write is kept, private, and waiting for you.

A note from Naveen

Hello, and thank you.

01  Why I made it

I’m Naveen, and I make Ink. A line you write at night shouldn’t be lost by the morning, and an old poem shouldn’t stay hidden just because you forgot where you put it.

02  What I care about

I wanted one private place where nobody reads your words but you. I’ve put a lot of care and a lot of hours into every small thing, from how a page saves to how the paintings move. I built it with love, for writers like you.

03  Thank you

Thank you for trying it, and for supporting it. It means more than I can say.

Naveen
